I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Happy Trafalgar Day!

Today is the 201st anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, in which Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson's English fleet defeated French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte's fleet, near Cape Trafalgar. It was a resounding victory, but not without cost: Admiral Nelson perished on that day.

England expects that every man will do his duty.-Nelson's signal to his fleet,at Cape Trafalgar, 21 October 1805
Read the story and see how the signal flags would have looked here and here.
Nelson's famous signal "England Expects That Every Man Will Do His Duty" was made from the poop deck of the Victory at 11.15 a.m. on 21 October 1805. This was just minutes before the commencement of the Battle of Trafalgar.

I posted quite a lot about it last year, the 200th Anniversary. Here are the links to my posts:
