A Lady's Ruminations

"Jane was firm where she felt herself to be right." -Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Location: United States

I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Room for one language -- English

Crossposted from Right Truth:

Mexican illegal aliens say that a portion of the United States of America belongs to them, or more precisely to Mexico. They are correct in that a portion of American land once belonged to Mexico, but before that it all belonged to the American indians. "The American Indians used all of the land in the United States as their home about the time the Mexicans started sacrificing themselves on the altars of the pyramids."

They seem to forget that part of the land Mexicans are claiming belongs to them 'was sold to the United States by way of the Louisiana Purchase on April 30, 1802.'

In 1821, Moses Austin, an American, obtained a Colonization Grant from the Mexican government. The Mexicans had failed at homesteading the Texas land. They abandoned it, and the Americans began homesteading in accordance with the Colonization Grant. They made good progress. The Mexican government changed its mind a few years later and told the Americans to leave. The Americans declared their independence in 1836. After trying to evict the Americans, guess what? War broke out. The battle of the Alamo happened shortly thereafter. This was the only battle won by the Mexican army. Later, in 1845, the U.S. annexed that land which is known as Texas and New Mexico. This precipitated the Mexican War, which I guess is still going on. At least this was exhibited recently by illegal Mexican aliens parading a Mexican flag through a California town. Gee, and then we have Americans who are not accepting of the Mexican culture.

Americans won all subsequent battles and then Mexico sold the territories north of the Rio Grande for $15 million, half of what the U.S. offered in 1832. However, this is history, and we must focus on how to make the world better today.
This information may be history, but it is obviously history that the illegal aliens never studied and never learned. Hint: It's never too late to educate your self folks, you are living in an imaginary world. You need to accept reality.. The United States is just that, UNITED and NOT MEXICO and never will be Mexico.

I'm tired of having to select a language right here in the United States. I'm sick of places like Wal-Mart putting Spanish labels on their meats and other products. This is America and Americans speak English.

'We have room for but one language here' -- English

English is not a magical language, but it is the national language by nature. Actually, it has been the national language since the pilgrims arrived in 1620. It has been used for 400 years but, somehow, all of a sudden, illegal Latinos and some legal Latinos can't do what at least 50 other ethnic races have done: Learn and use English.

In 1919, Theodore Roosevelt wrote, "In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American. ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. ... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." source
