Soldiers Say They Are Being Used as a Front for Anti-American Groups
The groups behind the ‘Appeal for Redress’ campaign are using our soldiers as political pawns in an effort to sow dissent within the ranks.
---Becky Davis, co-founder of Military Families Voice of Victory
(Washington, DC) Military family members issued statements today denouncing the anti-American groups behind the so-called ‘Appeal for Redress’ campaign for using soldiers as fronts to further a leftist political agenda aimed at bringing about America’s defeat in the Global War on Terror (GWOT.) The groups behind the effort which call for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq are: Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War and Military Families Speak Out. Kristinn Taylor of FreeRepublic.com will be appearing on tonight's (October 27, 2006) ABC's Nightline to discuss these and other issues.
Becky Davis, co-founder of Military Families Voice of Victory (mfvov.org), who has three sons in the service including one currently in Iraq, said, “The groups behind the ‘Appeal for Redress’ campaign are using our soldiers as political pawns in an effort to sow dissent within the ranks. President Bush has made clear that we will not leave Iraq until the mission is completed. This effort to undermine morale at home and in the service can only encourage our terrorist enemies to continue fighting. The servicemen and women who ally themselves with the leftists behind ‘Appeal for Redress’ will make the job of my son, and other mothers’ sons and daughters serving in Iraq that much more dangerous.”
Gary Qualls, himself a veteran and a Gold Star father whose son, Lance Cpl. Louis W. Qualls, was killed in Iraq on November 16, 2004, stated, “These leftist groups have been preying on soldiers, their families and Gold Star parents before and after the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They do not truly care about the soldiers and their families, their only aim is to make a mockery of my son’s sacrifice by bringing about another Vietnam-style defeat for America. These soldiers who have signed up with these groups are spitting on my son’s grave, and spitting in the face of their comrades in arms. They should be ashamed of themselves”
Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com, who comes from a military family and currently has two family members serving who have fought in the GWOT, said, “This effort to use active duty soldiers was forecast in an article in The Nation magazine published March, 2005 titled ‘The New Face of Protest.’ In the article, the anti-American leftists behind ‘Appeal for Redress’ acknowledge their need to cloak their defeatist politics by using active duty and military families as a front to hide behind. These groups were founded by Sixties radicals who have been working for decades to undermine America as they did during Vietnam when they helped the North Vietnamese communists enslave the free people of South Vietnam. As one whose family served in Vietnam and has family who have served in the GWOT, I will not allow these anti-American allies of the terrorists to get away with doing to this generation of our military what they did to them during Vietnam.”
