Location: United States

I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

How To Get Mexico's Attention

Crossposted from The Amboy Times:

One of the reasons the border is such a mess is the US gets no cooperation from the Mexican government. If fact, our friendly nieghbors to the south openly encourage their citizens to break our immigration laws, and have gone as far as to threaten litigation. Another open secret is the narco-mafia is basicly running Mexico.

""Mexico's drug gangs have tainted high government posts in a developing nation of some 93 million people that has recently teetered on the edge of political and economic crisis. American lawmakers cited that corruption in an unsuccessful fight to block certification of Mexico as a cooperating partner in anti-narcotics efforts.""

Local officials who fail to comply to the wishes of the drug cartels have a habit of being assassinated. One could speculate that the long term groth of drug cartels could be attributed to corruption at the highest levels of the Mexican government. There are also documented cases of terrorists entering our country from Mexico.

But what can America do about this? How do we convince Vincente Fox that cooperation is nessasary? I propose we hit Mexico in the pocket book. Mexican President Vicente Fox said at a meeting with Mexican-American businessman that money sent back to Mexico from America is the biggest source of revenue for Mexico and has been since 2003. 16.6 billion in '04.

Imagine if President Bush cut off this drag on our economy, Fox would be forced to clean up his act or face an overnight economic crisis. Illegal immigrants would think twice about coming here if they couldn't send money home. Drug cartels would finally face justice by a government that seeking to regain it's northern trading partner. Of course this will never happen, after 20-some-odd years of border failure, it seems more likely the corruption will spread north.
