Mexico is NOT Our Friend
Unfortunately, I expect to hear more of the same from him: guest worker programs, not amnesty, bring them out of the shadows, blah, blah, blah.
Apparently, the President is going to attempt to placate us by sending the National Guard to the Border.
But, he doesn't help his case by listening to Mexican President Vincente Fox (who seems to think he has the right to tell us what to do with our side of the border):
Reuters: Border troops would be temporary, US tells Mexico---
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush assured Mexican President Vicente Fox on Sunday he did not intend to militarize their countries' mutual border, but was considering sending National Guard troops there to temporarily support border control efforts.Mexico is not our friend. Friends don't do everything in their power to ruin you. Friends don't help people break into your home and bring violence, crime, disease, and poverty over.
"The president made clear that the United States considers Mexico a friend and that what is being considered is not militarization of the border, but support of border patrol capabilities on a temporary basis by National Guard personnel," White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri said, describing a telephone conversation between Bush and his Mexican counterpart.
Fox "reached out" to Bush on Sunday to relay his concerns about the plan that is under consideration, Tamburri said.
What is President Bush doing, assuring Vincente Fox about anything??? WE could use a little assurance that OUR rights are being taken care of, rather than the non-existant rights of ILLEGAL INVADERS. WE need to be assured by OUR president that he's doing the right, moral, and legal thing---by enforcing our laws.
It quite angers me that OUR president shows more deference to the leader of a nation that seeks to take advantage of us than he does to the people who elected him. We have the absolute right, moral and legal, to militarize our borders if we so wish. And, so we wish. We are tired of having our country invaded. We are tired of the demands of the illegal invaders. We are tired of the violence, crime, disease, and poverty they bring with them.
If Mexico doesn't like it, then too bad. We owe them nothing.
President Bush owes us everything. Unfortunately, he seems to think he owes Mexico. For what, I don't know.
I, for one, will not be appeased by the superficial gesture of sending the National Guard to the border (a gesture which will, I'm sure, be of short duration), especially not when I know it will be bundled along with an amnesty program. Sending troops to the border is too little, too late. George W. Bush has been in office for five years. He ought to have done this on Day 1. I'm not willing to accept any amnesty programs, in whatever guise the politicians dream up this week. Granting citizenship to illegal aliens is amnesty, no matter what one calls it.
I could wish for President Bush and Congress to comprehend that Mexico is not our friend, but I'm afraid that's just too much to hope for.
Remind them who they work for by sending them some Cero Dinero (more here.
More at Hot Air.
