I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

The Government's To Blame!

The title to this post could certainly apply to just about anything. Government is often more trouble than it is worth. And this is no exception.

I was listening to the Sean Hannity radio show yesterday and Sean was talking about the cost of gasoline. He said that oil companies are making $.08 cents profit . . . and the goverment is making $.50 profit on gas right now.

Outrageous.

Sean proceeded to read a long, long list of taxes that we all pay all the time. We don't get outraged over those, but we get mad when gas prices get a bit steep.

The real culprit here is the government. We are taxed on absolutely everything. Didn't we start and win a revolution to get away from all-encompassing taxes?

Sean noted that the oil companies actually give us something in return for that money: gasoline. The government gives us nothing back: no service, no gasoline, nothing.

So, if we are getting upset over the high price of filling our automobiles, we ought to direct our anger toward the government---at all levels. Here in Washington, our illegitimate governor Christine Gregoire has added more gas taxes. Fabulous.

We should also blame the Libs. They are the ones who have forbidden the building of new power plants, dams, oil refineries, and drilling in ANWR, among other places. Their Enviromental Wacko ideas have led to our current gasoline-problems.

Of course, they pretend outrage over the high price of gasoline. But we all know it isn't true. If they did care, they would give us the options listed above. But that isn't going to happen unless the Republicans in Congress actually get some guts and act like the MAJORITY they are.

Highly unlikely as well.

This brings me to the new Ann Coulter column. It is titled It's Hard Out Here for A Pump and here is an excerpt:

I would be more interested in what the Democrats had to say about high gas prices if these were not the same people who refused to let us drill for oil in Alaska, imposed massive restrictions on building new refineries, and who shut down the development of nuclear power in this country decades ago.

But it's too much having to watch Democrats wail about the awful calamity to poor working families of having to pay high gas prices.

Imposing punitive taxation on gasoline to force people to ride bicycles has been one of the left's main policy goals for years.

For decades Democrats have been trying to raise the price of gasoline so that the working class will stop their infernal car-driving and start riding on buses where they belong, while liberals ride in Gulfstream jets.
Isn't that the truth.

More from El Rushbo.

So next time you have to pay a huge chunk of gold at a gas station, head quickly home and send an angry e-mail to your Congress members. You'll find contact information here.

Senators are currently Demand[ing] Oil Co. Tax Records.

How about we demand Congress' records and then vote them out of office. At least the oil companies provide some oil!
