I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Alas! We are to blame!

Isn't it amazing how Liberals will come up with any reason to advocate for increases in welfare programs?

AP: Poor Have Difficulty Eating Healthy Foods---

The poor have more barriers to dealing with obesity, eating healthy and leading an active life, said Dr. Lydia Tinajero-Deck said.

Fast food restaurants are more common in their neighborhoods than fresh produce markets. Many parents, sometimes working two jobs, don't have the time to cook healthy meals. And fresh food is more costly.

"Energy-dense foods rich in starch, sugar or fat are the cheapest option for the consumer," said Adam Drewnowski, director of the Center for Public Health Nutrition at the University of Washington. "As long as the healthier lean meats, fish and fresh produce are more expensive, obesity will continue to be a problem for the working poor."

Dr. David L. Katz of Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center advocates vegetable subsidies. He favors the idea of a junk food tax that would use the money to lower the price of vegetables, as well as pay for anti-obesity programs.
This is ridiculous. People choose not to cook healthy meals. There are plenty of parents who make good livings, but work long, long hours to do so, and still manage to make healthy meals.

People choose to eat McDonalds and have pizza, rather than cook healthfully. It is possible to find healthy food at less expensive prices. People are just to lazy to do the work involved.

A junk food tax is a silly idea. These poor "poor" people who can't possibly make healthy meals are, according to the whole theory put forth in the article, the ones who buy a lot of junk food.

People make their own choices about what and how they eat. Many families with lots of children or small incomes manage to make do and eat properly without government assistance and programs.

Those who don't care, won't care.

But of course, we're to blame for not funding them properly!
