A Lady's Ruminations

I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

I Pledge Allegiance . . .

Today I renewed my Patriotism by signing the Pledge of Allegiance here. The goal is 4,000,000 signees (is that the proper term?). So far, about 440,000 have signed.

While I'm at it:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America ;and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all

I went to Catholic school all my life, so I always, without thought, end the Pledge of Allegiance with an "Amen." I do see the Pledge as a sort of prayer to God, in hopes that He will help us remain "one Nation" under Him, undividable, with freedom and truth for everyone. I pray every day that we can remain true to the Pledge. Amen.
