I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Finally, a Conservative Crackdown

Over at Hot Air, Bryan Preston has a post on the "Conservative Crackdown" that is taking place:

The Republican Party isn’t cracking up–conservatives are cracking down. That was Rush Limbaugh’s assessment of the conservative reaction to the Harriet Miers nomination. It was true then and it’s even more true now.
I just want to say AMEN! It is time that the Conservative Base held the people we elected to represent us to account.

For too long the Republican Party has been allowed to drift leftward. As I said in my The RNC wants to "Set the Record Straight" post on Wednesday,

The RNC wants to "set the record straight." Ok, how about some truth? Let's hear the RNC say that President Bush, and our other elected "representatives" are doing all they can to allow 12 million plus illegals become citizens through amnesty. Let's hear the RNC say that the GOP Majority hasn't really done a thing for us.
What exactly have the Republicans done for us since President Bush took office?

More from my post yesterday:

Yes, HUGE, HUGE points on most of the War on Terror, though there were places George W. could have done much better.

But other than that, what exactly have they done? Rather than behave like a party in control of the HOUSE, the SENATE, and the PRESIDENCY, the Republicans have behaved like the minority, making deals with the Dems, failing to bring forth Conservative legislation and pass it, failing to confirm good Conservatives (ok, well, we got a few!), caving in on many important things.

The tax cuts George W. pushed for are not permanent. We are really no closer to ridding the US of the abominations of gay "marriage" and abortion. We haven't been able to drill in ANWR. We haven't been able to set up Conservative eduction legislation (GW went with Teddy "the Drunk" Kennedy for the ed reform). Government spending is absolutely huge. We still can't pray in our tax-payer funded schools.

AND, the President and friends are completely turning their backs on what We the People want in regards to immigration. Poll after poll shows that Americans are not for amnesty. But, what do our elected "reps." keep pushing?---Amnesty, by any other name.
I am happy to see Conservatives putting pressure on the President, the Senate, and the House. We the People have a right to be heard. These people are only in office because we put them there: with blood, sweat, tears, hard-earned money. If they don't want to do what we elected them for, then they can go back to the private sector. We'll spend our blood, sweat, tears, and hard-earned money on people who do what they say they will.
