Defending Christmas
On Monday, October 17 at 10 a.m. in the Lisagor Room, Liberty Counsel and Christian Educators Association International ("CEAI") will announce the kick-off of their joint Christmas project. Liberty Counsel is a national, religious liberty public interest law firm with offices in Florida and Virginia and hundreds of affiliate attorneys in all fifty states. CEAI has 8,000 members comprised of public school teachers and administrators. CEAI is a conservative alternative to the National Education Association. We need to do more of this. Defending our Christian Heritage is a very important task that every Patriotic American and Christian ought to take to heart.
Mathew D. Staver, President and General Counsel of Liberty Counsel, will join Finn Laursen, Executive Director of CEAI, to discuss this national Christmas project, which involves an education and litigation campaign to ensure that Christmas celebrations are permitted in public schools, as well as in local, state, and federal governments. This Christmas campaign is different than any previous Christmas project, in that 8,000 public school teachers and administrators will join forces with hundreds of religious liberty lawyers affiliated with Liberty Counsel to promote and defend the celebration of Christmas.
We mustn't allow groups like the ACLU to destroy Christmas. We mustn't allow them to create "Winter Break" and have "Winter parties." What other reason is there for having the vacation when we have the vacation? If the object really was to have a break from school, during winter, then the end of January/beginning of February is actually closer to the middle of the school year. Other than Christmas, there is no justification for having the break during the two weeks we have it.
By disallowing any mention of Christmas during Christmas celebrations, Christian children are denied their First Amendment rights to Freedom of Religion. Really, the ACLU ought to be on our side. Of course, they aren't. That would be too Conservative, too Traditional, too Right. Pity.
