Terrorists gain entry to U.S. via Religious Visas

The headlines read, "Homeland Security: Dozens posed as church workers to gain visas" but the questions is 'why'. Why has our government not clamped down on all sorts of visas that are being used by the enemy? Student visas, especially students claiming they want to come to the U.S. to take English language training and bad guys claiming to be religious leaders entering the country with Religious visas and the most abused.

One instance involves dozens of Pakistani immigrants who were supposed to be teaching or conducting religious ceremonies ONLY. That's a rule of the visa program, you can come here to learn and lead in 'religious' settings, NOT to work in other jobs. These particular religous leaders were working as gas station attendants, taxi drivers, landscapers and factory workers, in strict violation of their visas.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have been scrutinizing the religious worker visa program, which a 2005 review found was rife with problems. Homeland Security officials found fraud in one of every three religious visas they reviewed.

Churches that sponsored the workers turned out not to exist, workers could not be found and addresses could not be verified, the study said. In one incident, the address on the visa application was found to have been used by a terrorist suspect.

Arrests were made in Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington D.C. source

Imam Hafiz Muhammed Masood, the spiritual director of the Islamic Center of New England's Sharon mosque, has been jailed for immigration violations.

On the Religious Worker Visa program:

Created in 1990 by Congress, the Religious Worker Visa program allows churches, synagogues and mosques to obtain visas from the U.S. Government for foreigners to fill vacant positions. Each year the government grants several thousand religious worker visas in the form of temporary, three-year visas and "green cards" that allow foreigners to become permanent residents.

Terrorists have used the program to enter the country over the years. For instance, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, had a religious visa as did four Palestinian men who ran Muslim "charities" that financed terrorist organization Hamas.

Other examples include three men in northern California who operated a terrorist training camp in Pakistan before coming to the U.S. and a Muslim religious leader, Mohammed Khalil, convicted of visa fraud for helping more than 200 middle easterners falsely obtain religious worker visas for $8,000 each. Khalil was recorded pledging his support for Osma bin Laden and expressing his desire to see another terrorist attack in the U.S. (read more at Corruption Chronicles)

I'm probably asking the obvious, and I ask it with a deep sigh, ... Will our government ever get serious on illegal aliens and terrorists? It seems like they just swing the door wide open and say, "Y'all come on in. Take your shoes off. Sit a spell. .... Y'all come back now, ya hear?" Arrrrggghhh!
