I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Illegals Issued Drivers Licenses

Crossposted from InMuscatine:

ABQjournal: Bogus Licenses Issued By Tijeras MVD:
The Tijeras Motor Vehicle Division office was closed for several hours Tuesday after
allegations surfaced that the office was issuing drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants who submitted fake documents.

The MVD office was open Wednesday but Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies and state Department of Taxation and Revenue officials continued to investigate.

Auditors and investigators from Taxation and Revenue were sent to Tijeras as soon as news reports surfaced about the licenses, department spokesman David Harwell said Wednesday.

Auditors found records of about 100 drivers' licenses issued to illegal immigrants through the Tijeras office, he said. All of the license numbers have been flagged in the MVD computer system used to check driving records, so that law enforcement officers will know the licenses are invalid, Harwell said.

Auditors were still combing through the paperwork at the Tijeras office Wednesday, he added.
If found guilty, the workers should be imprisoned for a very long time. Don't give me this crap about innocent until proven guilty, either. The illegal aliens didn't issue themselves licenses. Someone at that office done the deed, if not all of them. They broke the law, or know who did. Lean on everyone until someone starts singing like a battalion of canaries.

But let's not digress too far. IF this story is accurate there are about 100 illegal drivers on the road. What about them? Surely the purchase of an illegal license and the conspiracy which goes with it are worth serious jail time and deportation. I think it would be a good idea to offer to the authorities in the area a bounty for every one of the 100 arrested. A nice, round, tax-free number like $1,000.

Then let's see how long these illegal, wanna-be felons are loose on our roads.
