I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

Commending the UK

While I am very proud to be an American, and could desire no other nationality to be my birthright, I very much love Britannia. I am very glad that the United Kingdom has long been our steadfast ally, and that the UK has stayed with us in the War On Terror. Britain has a long and fine tradition of fighting for freedom and standing strong in the face of tyranny.

So, I was happy to see this:

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

September 7, 2006

Mr. Poe submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whereas the intelligence and military communities of the United Kingdom and the United States continue to work together to win the Global War on Terror;

Whereas the threat of terrorism is a grave concern for all nations, regardless of geographical or other boundaries;

Whereas acts of terror have profoundly affected citizens across the globe, including those in Bali, Turkey, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States; and

Whereas victory in the Global War on Terror is a necessity to ensure the liberty and safety of all people: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) commends the law enforcement authorities of the United Kingdom on their action to prevent a terrible attack from occurring;

(2) commends the intelligence community of the United Kingdom for its outstanding work in identifying the citizens seeking to carry out this plot;

(3) condemns those that would use acts of violence against innocent civilians to spread a message of hate and intolerance; and

(4) urges the allies of the United States in the Global War on Terror to remain steadfast in the execution of this important mission.

It was a nearly unanimous vote. Out of 415 votes cast, 412 were yeas and 3 were nays. Thirteen members of the House did not vote.

No surprise: the only 3 nays were LIBERALS. Their names are Kucinich, McKinney, and Hinchey.

You can read the roll call here.

Bravo to the House of Representatives for showing an (almost) united front in commending our longstanding ally, the United Kingdom.

And, thank you, United Kingdom, for once again showing the strength that is Britannia. God save you.
