The article doesn't say, but we all know that in most places, no one asks and in a lot of places, people aren't even supposed to ask.
Immigrant Rights Blocs Push Voter Sign-Ups - Yahoo! News.I wish I could tell you there is something that could be done, but I can't. The Democrats won't say anything because they tacitly approve of this. The Republicans are so weak-kneed and paralyzed, they won't.
NEW YORK - Trying to turn street protests into political power, immigrants rights groups say they are gearing up for a campaign to register 1 million new voters this spring and summer.
The groups, working together as the We Are America Alliance, plan a string of events around the country starting next week, including voter registration drives, citizenship workshops and street rallies.

From LA Times :
Aiming to transform street passions into political power, organizers of recent immigrant rights marches Tuesday announced a national campaign to produce 1 million new citizens and voters by the November mid-term elections.A paragraph of note with some statistices of interest from the article:
The drive will "channel the unprecedented momentum of our previous marches into a targeted mass campaign for civic action," Roman Catholic Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala said at a news conference at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.
The number of legal residents who became U.S. citizens, for instance, more than doubled from 434,000 in 1994 to 1 million in 1996, according to Rosalind Gold of the National Assn. of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund in Los Angeles. Among them, the share of Latinos grew from 27% in 1994 to 43% in 1996, she said. They speak of "legal residents," which is not what our argument is about is it. But they'll use anything to drive home their misrepresentations.
