I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

"Her cries — 'Ah, ah, ah' — can be heard above the 'Allahu akbar'”

It is hard to believe that such brutal barbarism still exists in this world. Or that there are people out there (namely the Left) who excuse the perpetrators by blaming the Civilized West for the inhuman evil of the terrorists.

Please take a moment to read about the murder of Atwar Bahjat, an Iraqi woman and one of that country's top tv journalists. The video of her February TORTURE and MURDER is recently surfaced. The story is horrifying:

First she was stripped to the waist, a humiliation for any woman but particularly so for a pious Muslim who concealed her hair, arms and legs from men other than her father and brother.

Then her arms were bound behind her back. A golden locket in the shape of Iraq that became her glittering trademark in front of the television cameras must have been removed at some point — it is nowhere to be seen in the grainy film, which was made by someone who pointed a mobile phone at her as she lay on a patch of earth in mortal terror.

By the time filming begins, the condemned woman has been blindfolded with a white bandage.

It is stained with blood that trickles from a wound on the left side of her head. She is moaning, although whether from the pain of what has already been done to her or from the fear of what is about to be inflicted is unclear.

Just as Bahjat bore witness to countless atrocities that she covered for her television station, Al-Arabiya, during Iraq’s descent into sectarian conflict, so the recording of her execution embodies the depths of the country’s depravity after three years of war.

A large man dressed in military fatigues, boots and cap approaches from behind and covers her mouth with his left hand. In his right hand, he clutches a large knife with a black handle and an 8in blade. He proceeds to cut her throat from the middle, slicing from side to side.

Her cries — “Ah, ah, ah” — can be heard above the “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest) intoned by the holder of the mobile phone.

Even then, there is no quick release for Bahjat. Her executioner suddenly stands up, his job only half done. A second man in a dark T-shirt and camouflage trousers places his right khaki boot on her abdomen and pushes down hard eight times, forcing a rush of blood from her wounds as she moves her head from right to left.

Only now does the executioner return to finish the task. He hacks off her head and drops it to the ground, then picks it up again and perches it on her bare chest so that it faces the film-maker in a grotesque parody of one of her pieces to camera.

The voice of one of the Arab world’s most highly regarded and outspoken journalists has been silenced. She was 30.
This sort of thing happens, not because we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, nor because of anything the West has done or not done to the Middle East, but because Satan exists and works through weak and evil men. These men don't care about anything that is right or good in this world. They seek only to dominate through cruelty, terror, and wickedness. We did not create them . . . but we will stop them.

This is the very reason we are in the Middle East. We, who have everything, are charged with the duty of helping in the liberation of those who are so very oppressed. If you think this sort of thing wasn't happening before we entered Iraq, then you probably should also believe that the Nazis weren't experimenting on Jews until we entered Germany.

What these terrorists were and are doing is nothing new. They (and cowards like them) have been practicing their evil and brutal methods for a long, long time----centuries, even.

Are we going to lay down and allow them to hack our heads off? Or are we going to rise up and stand together to defeat this insidious plague wherever it is---Baghdad, Kabul, Madrid, London, New York, etc.?

If we don't stop these animals now, then pretty soon it might be that pretty anchor woman on your nightly local news who ends up with her head cut off. How dare she appear on camera!?! these cowards say.

If we fail, it will mean the end of Western Civilization. We will be dragged back to the 9th century. Pardon me, but I don't want to live then. I don't want to wear a burqa or be unable to drive or speak to anyone in the world I want to speak to.

The Left can go on saying whatever they like ("the Republicans want to keep women in the kitchen," "we caused 9/11," "we have left the Muslim world with no choice but to strike back," "they are freedom fighters," etc.), but the truth of the matter is that it won't matter if one is Liberal or Conservative when they come. They hate us for our freedoms, for our ability to make choices, for our LIBERTY.

Like the Left, are you going to look the other way? Or will you stand with us to defeat the greatest threat we have ever faced? We all have a choice.

UPDATE-8 May 2006:
There is a possibility that the video is not of the murder of Atwar Bahjat (though she HAS been murdered). You will find more information here and "The Jawa Report" has a lot of conclusive information. Be warned of some gruesome images at that last.

Regardless of whether or not that video was of Atwar Bahjat, this sort of thing is happening. The brutality and wickedness of these cowardly animals is not lessened by the fact that the video is a hoax; Atwar Bahjat was horribly murdered.
