Location: United States

I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

State of the Union Speech

I watched the President's State of the Union Speech, but I've had a long day and don't really feel like wading through the text and picking out my favorite/least favorite parts. Hopefully I will do that tomorrow.

You can read the text of the speech here.

Did you see Hillary Clinton sitting behind Barack Obama? I bet that had her fuming!

When the President started fawning over Nancy Pelosi, I wanted to cast up my accounts. And, how annoying was it to have her sitting up there, looking like she thinks she's the Queen of England?

I was moved to tears toward the end of the speech, when the President told the stories of Dikembe Mutombo, Wesley Autrey, Tommy Rieman, etc. This is what AMERICA is all about.

As the President said,

This is a decent and honorable country — and resilient, too. We have been through a lot together. We have met challenges and faced dangers, and we know that more lie ahead. Yet we can go forward with confidence — because the State of our Union is strong ... our cause in the world is right ... and tonight that cause goes on.
I'll write more tomorrow.
