I'm also a usually quiet, reserved Lady, who enjoys books, tea, baking, and movies! I spend most of my time reading one of my favorite books or wishing I was reading my favorite books. My Grand Passion is history, particularly the Regency Period in England, when Jane Austen wrote, Lord Nelson defeated the French Fleet at Trafalgar, the Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon, and men were Gentlemen and women Ladies. I cherish the thought of being a Lady and love manners, being proper, and having proper tea. My favorite tea is Twinings, especially Earl Grey or Prince of Wales. My specialty to make is Scones with Devon Cream. I am a Catholic and a Conservative.

AP: Bush Treads Lightly With Guest Worker Plan---

WASHINGTON - Caught between business supporters who need foreign workers and conservatives clamoring for a clampdown on illegal immigration, President Bush tried on Saturday to give his temporary guest worker plan a nudge by promising strong enforcement.

"A critical part of any temporary worker program is ensuring that our immigration laws are enforced at work sites," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "America is a country of laws — we must not allow dishonest employers to flout those laws."

The president last year introduced a plan that would allow undocumented workers to obtain three-year work visas. They could extend that for another three years, but would then have to return to their home countries for a year to apply for a new work permit.

But the conservative Republicans are insisting on taking up the issue of increased enforcement first. They prefer to put off the debate on the complex issues of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States and the economy's need for low-skilled labor for jobs that Bush says many Americans don't want.

Some conservatives also fear that Bush's plan would give amnesty to undocumented workers, a point the White House disputes.

In the broadcast, the president touted a $32 billion bill for the Department of Homeland Security as proof that the enforcement issue is already being addressed.

He highlighted the $2.3 billion it contains to help hire 1,000 new Border Patrol agents, improve technology and install barriers such as fencing and lighting; and the bill's $3.7 billion for enforcement, including expanding detention facilities by 10 percent so that fewer non-Mexican illegal immigrants are simply released.

"Our goal is to return every single illegal entrant, with no exceptions," Bush said.
That's just not good enough. I do not believe the "guest worker" program would prevent illegal aliens from invading our country in any way. Rather, people will be more encouraged to come across, just so they can have government sponsored jobs.

Does the President include himself among those who flout our immigration laws? He should. He has aided and abetted illegals and human smugglers by his words and by turning a blind eye to the problem.

And how is allowing "undocumented workers" (PC talk for illegal aliens) work visas not granting them amnesty? That doesn't make sense.

If one is here illegally and is rewarded by being given a legal right to work, then one is given amnesty. It is as simple as that.

Apparently the President's goal of returning every single illegal entrant only applies to invaders who come after the legislation is put in place. What about the millions and millions who have already invaded and are already spreading germs, crime, and using our resources?

The argument that Americans will not do the jobs done by illegal aliens is silly. The reason people don't do those jobs is that there is no incentive to do so. By allowing illegals in, we take jobs away from Americans. We have fostered an environment where people don't do jobs like picking apples because they know there are illegals who will. If we deported (as we should) all illegal aliens, people would eventually return to those jobs.

A job is a job. If people are in need of employment, they ought to be willing to do what it takes. As long as there are illegal aliens working our jobs, people will not be motivated to take such jobs.

We shouldn't reward someone for breaking our laws by illegally invading our sovereign nation. We also shouldn't reward people who won't do honest work by importing others to do it for them.

Why not have welfare recipients do the jobs other Americans supposedly refuse to do. Such a program would certainly provide job training, income, and create the desire to advance one's place in life.

The President's idea is ridiculous and I am disappointed in him.
