What I'm Reading
Apparently, this summer President Bush is reading Salt: A World History" by Mark Kurlansky, Alexander II: The Last Great Tsar" by Edvard Radzinsky and "The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the Deadliest Plague in History" by John M. Barry. (I love salt on my food, by the by).
At the end of his post, Nick asks "So what are you reading on your summer vacation?" So, I thought I would answer:
First, I am constantly reading historical romances. I have no idea how many I've read this summer, so I won't list those. You would be bored (if not already).
Secondly, a list of books I have read that are not historical romances:
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
- the other five Harry Potter books again (I'm at the end of book 5)
- Mr. Midshipman Hornblower by C.S. Forester
- Lieutenant Hornblower by C.S. Forester
- Hornblower and the Hotspur by C.S. Forester
- A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks, which I read every summer
- Various Georgette Heyer novels
And books I want to read this summer include:
- To Rule the Waves How the British Navy Shaped the Modern World by Arthur Herman, which I received for Christmas
- Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America by James Webb, which I received for Christmas
- Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare by Stephen Greenblatt, which my cousin Sarah gave me for my birthday
- Reckless Disregard : How Liberal Democrats Undercut Our Military, Endanger Our Soldiers, and Jeopardize Our Security by Buzz Patterson, which my sister just gave me (I've met Col. Patterson. He is a wonderful man)
- the rest of Horatio Hornblower series, various Georgette Heyers, and many more historical romances
